The Saskatchewan Aboriginal Courtworker Program started certifying courtworker in September 2007. There are three levels of courtworker designated in Saskatchewan. All courtworker have until April 2008 to be certified to a Level 2. Application for certification are available and need to be completed so you can begin the process. Once the application is received you will be assigned your Level 3 evaluator. They will review and assist you with the process.
Courtworkers not certified and designated at a Level 2 will have six months to complete Level 2 certification, if the designation is not achieved then they will NOT be able to work as a courtworker. All new courtworkers have 6 months to get a Level 2 designation.

Overview of the training levels:
Level 1 - Level 1 is the basic level that all courtworkers must complete within the probationary period of 3 months. Courtworkers are certified and designated by a minimum of two of their colleagues and failure to complete means courtworkers will continue on probation. If the courtworker is not certified within 6 months they will not be designated and will not be able to work in the courts.

Level 2 - Level 2 needs to be completed within six months and is required before a courtworker is designated an Agent and only courtworkers with these credential will be listed. Courtworkers are certified and designated Level 2 by a minimum of two of their colleagues and the Executive Director. If a courtworker does not complete this designation then s/he will not be listed as eligible to act as agent in the criminal code

Level 3 - Level 3 is a trainer/mentor designation and is not necessary to do courtworker duties as it is reserved for those that have the capacity to act as a mentor and trainer. Level 3 courtworkers are those that certify Level 1 and 2 colleagues.
